Adrian Mutu, the Romanian striker who used to play for Chelsea has denied the allegation that he turned up drunk for his visa at the Indian Embassy located in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
In the month of September, Mutu signed a three month contract with the team Pune City FC playing in the Indian Super League. It is feared that he’ll not be able to play for his team in his team’s first match in the competition which is against Delhi Dynamos because he is having troubles getting his visa. He will play as a striker for Pune City FC.
Gazzetta dello Sport, an Italian Newspaper said that one could tell that Mutu was drunk just by looking at him when he visited the embassy. The embassy staff asked him to leave and said that he could come back when he was sober. Mutu denied that the event ever happened and posted in Twitter that the whole thing is a lie and said that he’s astonished at Gazzetta dello Sport, a reputed newspaper publishing a story without properly verifying it, along with an image of his visa. The Indian Embassy also said that no such incident took place. Indian first secretary to Romania, Political & Consular, Arun Kumar Sharma said that the reported story is a false one and further added that Mutu had some problems of very insignificant nature with his documents which was solved within a very short time.
Mutu was kicked out of Chelsea in the October of 2004 after tests conclusively proved that he used Cocaine. He was also initially banned for nine months after he failed a doping test when he was playing for Fiorentina but later on his ban was reduced three months. Adrian Mutu was banned from the Romanian National football team in the year 2011 along with one of his teammates after both of them were found to be drinking when they were supposed to be playing for the team which was competing against San Marino.

Petrolul Ploiești manager Razvan Lucescu has claimed that the Romanian national team should consider recalling the former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu. After a career that been spanned by controversies, Mutu is currently playing with the Romanian club Petrolul Ploiești. He helped them qualify into the Europa league group stages by stunning opponents Viktoria Plzeň from the Czech Republic. Due to the much higher club profile, Viktoria Plzeň were the overwhelming favourites to beat Petrolul Ploiești in the two legged qualifying match and progress to the final stages of the competition.
The first leg finished in a 1-1 draw at home for the Romanian club. As a result, the Czech Republic team went into the second leg with a lot of confidence of progressing to the next round due to the backing of the home supporters. However, a 4-1 thrashing meant that they were knocked out 5-1 on aggregate. Mutu scored a sensational goal in the second leg to help the team win the tie 5-1 on aggregate. It has been one of the shocks of the tournament. After the match, a delighted Lucescu said that he is extremely happy with the outcome.
He also says that the performance of Mutu has been extremely satisfying and that the 35-year-old striker should consider playing for the Romanian national team once again. Mutu retired from international football in 2013 after 77 appearances and 35 goals for the Romanian national team. “Mutu is a fantastic player that makes the difference. It has a special motivation when playing holder, and they enter the field as a reserve. Effort, struggles, make a difference. Certainly must be the national team, it is my opinion,” said Lucescu after the match. “I had a very good week with 13 goals in 3 matches. This is life. I’d like to be called to the national team,” said Mutu.

The Colombian defender Juan Cuadrado has been one of the standout players of the World Cup and even before the worldwide competition had initiated, he already had attracted the attention of top clubs around the globe and now Fiorentina will have their work cut out trying to keep the Colombian star in the club.
“We will do everything possible to keep hold of Cuadrado, It is a difficult situation, but my first aim is to keep Cuadrado in Florence. There are no firm price-tags set, nor have I spoken to any clubs. I must admit, Cuadrado’s performances and visibility in the World Cup are not helping.” The co-owner of FIorentina, Andrea Della Valle stated.
Cuadrado has a contract with Fiorentina which runs up until 2017 but after a series of impressive performances by the 26 year old defender in the World Cup might tempt clubs on launching offers that could be just too hard to resist.
The defender of Fiorentina revealed to the public that he is only trying to focus on the World Cup and when it end, he will then discuss about whether or not to remain with the Italian club or join another club.
“I reiterate that my family and I are happy in Florence. I will only think about my future after the World Cup. Right now I’m living in a dream. This is just the beginning as we have not seen the real Cuadrado.” Cuadrado said.
Recently Barcelona and Bayern Munich are some of the football destinations that have been linked with the Colombian defender and both of those clubs are able to not only meet with the €40m buy-out clause that Fiorentina placed on Cuadrado but it will ultimately depend if the star of Colombia decides to leave the Italian club.
